Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 28, 2025

This Privacy Policy describes how Low Voltage Practice LLC (“LVP,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you use our website, tools, and related services (the “Services”). By using the Services, you agree to this Policy.

1) Who We Are & Purpose

LVP provides educational resources, practice materials, and utility tools to help users expand their knowledge in the low-voltage field. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any certification body, manufacturer, or other third party in the industry.

2) Information We Collect

A. Information you provide

  • Account & Profile: name/username, email, password (hashed), role/tier, and preferences.
  • Purchases & Subscriptions: plan selections and transaction metadata. Payments are processed by Stripe; LVP does not store full card numbers.
  • Support/Contact: messages you send via our contact form or email.
  • Content used in tools: e.g., photos for Photo→PDF, floor plans, notes, or files you choose to process.

B. Information collected automatically

  • Device & Usage: IP address, browser type, OS, pages viewed, timestamps, referring/exit pages, and similar logs.
  • Cookies/Local Storage: used to keep you signed in, secure the site, remember settings, and ensure functionality (see “Cookies & Similar Technologies”).

C. Information from third parties

  • Stripe (Payments): we receive limited transaction details from Stripe to activate access and maintain records. See Stripe’s privacy policy at stripe.com/privacy.
  • Email (Gmail): when you email us or submit our contact form, messages are handled through Gmail/Google’s email infrastructure.
  • Future analytics/crash reporting (if enabled later): we may adopt privacy-respecting analytics or error-logging services. If we do, we will update this Policy to identify those providers and available controls.

3) How We Use Information

  • Operate, maintain, and secure the Services.
  • Create and manage accounts and subscriptions; process payments.
  • Deliver features such as calculators, planners, readers, and practice content.
  • Understand usage and improve reliability and usability.
  • Communicate with you (service messages, account notices, support).
  • Detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, or security incidents.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

4) Client-Side Tools & Your Files

Many tools are designed to run locally in your browser (e.g., photo-to-PDF and certain planners). When a tool runs in-browser, your files are processed on your device and are not uploaded to our servers unless you explicitly choose to save, sync, or send them to us. Tools that require server processing will state so and will only retain files as long as needed to provide the feature.

5) Cookies & Similar Technologies

We use essential cookies to sign you in, secure the site, and remember preferences. We do not use advertising cookies. If we add analytics in the future, we will update this Policy and provide opt-out information where applicable. You can control cookies through your browser; disabling essential cookies may break core functionality.

6) How We Disclose Information

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

RecipientWhat & Why
Service Providers (hosting, payment processing, email) We disclose information to vendors that help us operate the Services (e.g., hosting providers, Stripe for payments, Gmail for email). They may use data only as instructed and must safeguard it appropriately.
Legal/Compliance We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or court order, or to protect rights, safety, or prevent fraud/abuse.
Business Transfers In a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, information may be transferred subject to this Policy or a successor policy with equivalent protections.

7) Your Choices

  • Account Settings: update profile information in your account.
  • Emails: reply to us to manage support communications; service/transactional emails may be required for your account.
  • Cookies: manage cookies in your browser. If we add analytics, we’ll provide additional controls/opt-outs.
  • Global Privacy Control (GPC): where required by law, we make reasonable efforts to honor GPC signals for applicable opt-outs. We do not sell/share personal information.

8) State Privacy Rights (U.S.)

Depending on your state, you may have rights to access/know, correct, delete, or port certain personal information, and to opt out of targeted advertising, sale, or profiling. Because we do not sell or share personal information, those opt-outs are not applicable.

How to submit a request: use our Contact Us page and include enough information for us to verify your identity (and, if applicable, your authority as an agent). We will respond within timeframes required by law.

9) Security

We use reasonable safeguards designed to protect personal information, including HTTPS in transit, access controls, and routine updates. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.

10) Data Retention

  • Account data: retained while your account is active and for a reasonable period thereafter to maintain records, comply with law, and resolve disputes.
  • Support communications (Gmail): kept as long as needed to address your request and for up to 24 months unless needed longer for ongoing issues.
  • Server logs: typically retained up to 12 months for security and troubleshooting.
  • Payment/financial records (Stripe): retained as required by tax/accounting laws (often up to 7 years).
  • User uploads: by default, not stored on our servers when tools run in-browser; if a feature requires server processing, files are kept only as long as needed to deliver that feature.

11) International Transfers & Data Location

We primarily process data in the United States. Our service providers (e.g., hosting, Stripe, Google/Gmail) may process data in the U.S. and other countries subject to their safeguards and contractual commitments.

12) Children’s Privacy

The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

13) Third-Party Links

The Services may link to third-party websites/apps. We are not responsible for their privacy or security practices. Review their policies before providing information.

14) Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will post the updated Policy with a new “Effective date” above. Your continued use after changes become effective means you accept the updated Policy.
